Description
Inventory #V2A6047. This elderly woman was walking down the hill toward us as we prepared to set up our free clinic for the day. We were in the town of Caupicho near Quito, Ecuador to work among the Quichua people living there. She walked laboriously but determinedly, as though accustomed to the fate. I was told later that when she was a very young child her father, in a drunken stupor, left her outside in the elements for several days. When she was found the right leg had been damaged and shriveled.
