Description
Inventory #98/25-01EE. Monument Valley is perhaps the most photographed place in Arizona. Located on the Navajo reservation in northeast Arizona, it is a tribal park, not a national park. The striking landscape is what draws people here. On a flat valley floor monolithic buttes rise thousands of feet into the air. The two pictured here are called the "mittens" because they resemble mittens, each with its thumb. When seen from this angle, they appear to be right and left mittens. I took this image near sunset, so there were long shadows in the foreground.
