Inventory #2019-02-29-02ACR. These white poppies are a version of the more normal golden California poppies. The poppies grace the desert only when conditions are right. The rains have to come in the right amount at the right time, and the warming weather has to be on the right schedule. Sometimes the poppies carpet the landscape in abundance. Sometimes there are very few. The white poppies are quite rare, and in the Arizona desert become tinged with pink.

A photographer since the age of 8 when I received my first camera as a gift from my grandmother, I learned the art of photography by studying such current great artists as George Lepp, Dewitt Jones and Art Wolfe. My inspiration is God's beautiful creation, and I attempt to record it faithfully, shooting landscapes, flowers, animals, and anything that captures my fancy. I shot film until 2012 when I purchased my first pro digital camera. Now I do both, and do all of the creation in the camera before the snap. If the image isn't good enough to print as taken, it is discarded instead of being "improved" through Photoshop. I have my own darkroom and love making my own prints from negatives.
