Artist's Description

Inventory #48E8827. In the Waterpocket Fold there is a line of uplifts that follow a narrow valley for about 50 miles. This is the "fold." The lifts are red sandstone in places, and in other places they are grey with maroon designs. In this particular spot the valley floor is very green with shrubs and grasses and the uplifts take on more the look of promontories. I was drawn by the openness of the landscape as well as the varying colors and shapes of the uplifts.

If the image isn't good enough to print as taken, it is discarded instead of being "improved" through Photoshop. I have my own darkroom and love making my own prints from negatives. One of my favorite techniques is to hand paint...
