Description
Inventory #V2A6906E. One day my friends drove me up to the extinct volcano called El Chimborazo. It sits just south of the ecuator near the city of Riobamba. On the way, one passes through green hills dotted with small holdings and villages. But always the huge mountain looms over the landscape, dwarfing the rest of the Andes Mountains. El Chimborazo's peak is 20,702 feet above sea level, but it must be remembered that since it sits at the widest part of the planet, its "sea level" is 6,800 feet higher, making it the tallest mountain when measured from the center of the earth. This view was at about 13,000 feet up.
