Description
Inventory #IMG-7393E2E. This is a view of the top of the extinct volcano named Chimborazo that stands just outside the city of Riobamba, Ecuador. Its location puts it very near the ecuator, and the ecuatorial bulge in the earth, added to the mountains 20,548' height, makes it the tallest mountain. In actuality, it's not even the tallest mountain in the Andes range, but its location gives it additional height, since the sea level at its location is much further from the center of the earch. (See Google). It is tall enough to create its own weather pattern and controls the weather in the province of the same name. This view is from the Pan American Highway as it comes into Riobamba.
