Description
16I0826-E-2. This is a view of the Clearwater River from the two-lane highway that follows it. This road is part of the Lewis and Clark Trail. The river is aptly named, as it is perhaps the clearest water I have ever seen. One can see every pebble in the bottom. Every turn of the river brings a new vista that is perhaps even more lovely than the previous one. The western Idaho sky was a crystal blue that reflected perfectly in the water. I thought I was all alone here, but then realized that I was actually intruding on the fishing experience of a couple of fellows upstream.
The name of the river is an ancient one, given by the Nez Perce or Niimiipuutint who lived in this area for centuries.
